Gerald (Jerry) Bartholomew, 77, died Monday, July 11 2011, at home in Maple Grove, Minnesota where he moved from Rochester in 2009.

Jerry was born in West Catasaqua, Pennsylvania, on August 3, 1933, to Claude and Stella Bartholomew.  He was the last of seven children.  He graduated from Whitehall HS in Allentown, PA and Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.  He married Barbara Nothstein in 1955 and they moved to Madison, WI where he received his Masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin. After graduating from Wisconsin he joined IBM as a programmer. He initially worked in a few New York locations and moved to the Rochester IBM plant in 1962, where he worked as a programmer and systems analyst for almost 30 years.  Over the years he enjoyed spending time with his family and delving into gourmet cooking.  

Jerry is survived by his wife of almost 56 years; four children, Mike (CJ) of Maple Grove, Geri (Greg) Stewart of Plymouth, MN, Scott (Cindy) of Rice Lake, WI and Brian (Cindy) of New Albany, OH; six grandchildren (Megan, Tucker, Angela, Alex, Heather and Ian); a brother, Norman, and two sisters Irene and Marie, all of Allentown, PA.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Clara and two brothers, Sterling and Dale.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Ave N.E., with Rev. Doris Underdahl and Rev. Kayla Bonewell officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
