Aidan Jacobson

Aidan James Jacobson, age 29, of Rochester, MN went home to glory on Thursday, March 7, 2024 as a result of a cardiac event. He was diagnosed at an early age with Autism and later with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), and experienced various medical complications stemming from DMD.

Aidan attended the Rochester Public School Special Education program where he had the most incredible teachers and paraprofessionals at Gage, Willow, Mayo, and RAIL. He was part of PossAbilities Life Enrichment program, and after graduating from RAIL, he spent his day hours at PossAbilities.

Aidan lived for summer camp, and was able to participate through MDA Camp, Badger Camp, and Camp Courage. Every year he would count down how many days until the next camp for the upcoming summer. Aidan was obsessed with janitors and their equipment, calendars, and with the moon phases. However, his biggest love was music, especially bluegrass and gospel. He was privileged to attend various concerts throughout his life, but Monroe Crossing, Ricky Skaggs, and Willie Nelson were among his favorites. Aidan spent many hours listening to music, singing, and playing his air guitar.

For the past six years, he had the most special at-home caregiver, Jodi Engle. She took him on walks, field trips, and spent hours doing creative projects providing such happiness for him. We are forever indebted to her - for the respite she gave us, and for the care and love she gave Aidan. We also thank the staff at PossAbilities for the help he was given over the years.

Aidan is survived by his parents, Roger and Kristi Jacobson of Rochester; sister Dana (Sebastien) Founta and nephew Austin; grandparents, Donald and Avonne Bakken of Wanamingo, MN and James Fugleberg of Rochester; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Aidan taught us to be grateful for every day and to find joy in the small things. We thank God for giving him to us to love and care for on this earth. Aidan was looking forward to his glorified body in Heaven where he could ditch his wheelchair, play banjo, and go on lots of trail walks. He is singing in God's heavenly choir now.

A service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at True Life Church, 2204 22nd St. NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral home from 4-6 pm and one hour before the service on Thursday.
