Ann Benassi

Ann Holtzmuller Benassi, 93, of Rochester, MN died at River Bend Assisted Living on May 12, 2025.

Ann was born on March 23, 1932, in Forest, OH to Frank and Grace (Fugate) Holtzmuller. She grew up in Forest and graduated from Forest High School. Ann then went on to attend Ohio State undergraduate and medical school.

Ann married Allan Schutt, and the couple lived in Toledo, OH where they worked in the medical field. The couple then moved to South Dakota and worked in Public Health. They also worked in Fort Yates, ND before moving to MN to train at Mayo. They were the first married couple to work at Mayo as doctors. In 2015, Ann married Robert Benassi.

Ann enjoyed buying jewelry, collecting antiques, the symphony and going to the cabin in Michigan and traveling.

Ann is survived by her son, Chris (Kelly Smith) Schutt, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William, her first husband, Allan Schutt and her second husband, Robert Benassi.

A celebration of life will be held from 12-3pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Ranfranz and Vine Remembrance and Reception Centre, 5482 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN.
