Arnold August Boese

September 22, 1928 — December 13, 2021

Arnold August Boese died on December 13, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN from complications of Chronic Heart Failure. He was born to August Frederick Boese and Irene Kuehn Boese on September 22, 1928 in Lakota, Iowa. He had been a resident at the Stewartville Care Center for 3 months. From 1948 to 1952 he served in the US. Army attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He served with the 82nd Airborne, qualifying as a paratrooper and a glider specialist with 35 parachute jumps. Arnold attended Winona State Teacher's College graduating in 1955. During his time at Winona State he played football, was President of the Student Body (now the "Student Senate"), and was named to Who's Who in American Colleges. He was named to the Winona State Football Hall of Fame. While at college he met Marcia Davies whom he married on December 26, 1954. They were married for 62 years before Marcia passed away on May 21, 2016. Arnold had a long career in education. He was active in his local church, currently being a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Evan and Clara Davies, and his siblings and their spouses, Henry (Betty) Boese, Ardis (Walter) Suhrcke, Margaret (Lowell) Sikkink, Robert (Eleanor) Boese, Francis (Frank) Wilson, brother-in-law Jerry Johnson and brother-in-law Evan (Judy) Davies. He is survived by sister Naomi Johnson and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his children Douglas (Cindy) Boese and the Rev. Jean Boese of Rochester, Brian Boese of St. Paul and Jan (Charles) Anderson of Lafayette, MN. He is also survived by grandchildren Brett (Maisa) Boese, Kristi (Mikey) Olson, Erin (Trevor) Wittwer, Jordan (Kara) Boese, Paul Warmbold and David Warmbold, as well as by 7 great-grandchildren, with 1 on the way. Arnold's family would like to thank the staff of the Stewartville Care Center and Mayo Hospice for the excellent care he received by them. They are are angels among us. Graveside services held on December 17, 2021 at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.
