Barbara Dutton

Barbara J. Dutton, age 91, of Rochester, MN passed away June 2, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN.

Barbara was born August 20,1933 in Rochester, MN, the daughter of Harold and Allene (Allen) Lehman. She was a graduate of Rochester Senior High School. During her high school years, she worked at R-Tic Root Beer Stand and following graduation she worked for Rochester Dry Cleaners.

Barbara married Howard Dutton, they were married for 40 years. They divorced in 1995. They were blessed with five sons, Michael, Gary, Bruce, and twins Daniel and David. Barbara was a stay at home mom. In her later years, she worked as a para for Rochester Public School assisting students on and off the bus and provided them with books and puzzles to keep them busy during their ride.

Barbara was very artistic and an avid ceramics painter. She was active in the local ceramics group not only for the ceramics but for the many cherished friendships she made through the years. Her family was the recipient of her many finely detailed painted ceramics, gifts they will treasure of their mom, grandma and great grandma. Barbara was strong willed and independent, rarely asking for help from her children. Flower gardening, raking the yard or shoveling the snow were many things she attended to on her own. She was a member of the Congregational Church, UCC in Rochester, MN.

Barbara is survived by four sons, Michael (Therese) Dutton of Rochester, MN, Gary Dutton

(Karin Berg) of Rochester, MN, Bruce Dutton of Stewartville, MN and Daniel Dutton of Harmony, MN; daughter-in-law, Lisa (Mark) La Liberte; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her sister, Charlotte Podolske of Rochester, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, David Dutton and sister, Janice Lehman.

A private family graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
