Barbara Schroeder

Barbara Joan Schroeder, of Rochester, MN, died at home on October 18, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on January 31, 1948, in St. Paul, MN. She is survived by husband, Gene Long; siblings, Gary (Wilma) Schroeder, Mary Schroeder, and Thomas Schroeder; stepsons, Jeffrey (Stacey) Long, Michael (Marcie) Long, Andrew (Thu Danh) Long and Timothy Long; grandsons, Steven (Cassie) Long, Brian (Allie) Long, Peyton Long, Ethan Long, Nathan Long and Jacob Long; granddaughters, Hailey Long, Olivia Long, Eliana Long; great granddaughters, Hailey Finn and Emma Long. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Carrol Schroeder; her grandparents, Estella and Walther Steinkamp, and Ella and Albert Schroeder; her sister, Jane Martin; aunts and uncles.

She grew up in St. Paul, MN, and graduated from Central High School in 1966. She became interested in nursing while volunteering at Northern Pacific Hospital as a candy striper. Over the next decade, she graduated from many programs and obtained her Master's Degree from the U of M.

Barb started her career with Rochester Methodist Hospital in 1980 and worked in the Mayo clinic system until her retirement in 2014.

In 2014, Barb got certified as a health coach through Wisdom of the Whole Coaching Academy and worked with clients and at the Gift of Life Transplant Houses.

Barb loved to travel to present at national conferences. She loved spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking, reading, entertaining and volunteering at church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can go to the Evangel United Methodist Church, Glory Baptist Church, Gift of Life Transplant House, Elder Network, Assisi Heights Spirituality Center, or charity of your choice.

Barb would want you to start and end your day with looking for things to be grateful for.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 24, 2025 at Evangel United Methodist Church, 2645 N. Broadway Ave., Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Glory Baptist Church Cemetery, 28053 360th Ave., Aitkin, MN.
