Brenda Rae Liesman

Brenda Rae Liesman, age 50, most recently of Rochester, Minnesota, was welcomed into the presence of her loving and faithful Shepherd, Jesus Christ, on September 18, 2026. She passed away peacefully at home from multiple medical conditions, primarily gastrointestinal failure.

Brenda was born February 21, 1976, to Ray and Wanda (Anders) Liesman, and raised in Greeley, Colorado. She pursued a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics, followed by a Master Degree in Teaching. She taught for a number of years, first at Rifle High School in Western Colorado as a Consumer and Family Studies teacher. Later she moved to Illinois to teach first grade at Schaumburg Christian School. After years of health struggles, she relocated to Rochester, Minnesota, in 2022, to receive personalized and comprehensive care at the Mayo Clinic.

As a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Brenda's church family was always an integral part of her life. She not only enjoyed being involved and serving in various capacities, but her growth in the Lord under the teaching of the Word of God helped to shape the person she came to be. She quietly served in practical ways such as hospitality, bookkeeping, and encouraging notes. Daily time drawing strength from her own Bible reading and clinging to God's promises sustained her through numerous health struggles. This consolation overflowed to others as she shared what she learned.

A lover of God's creation, Brenda enjoyed outdoor activities. A walk outdoors always remained a highlight of her day. Daily running, mountain hiking with family and friends, easy trail biking, cross country skiing are some of the recreations that allowed her to experience the changing seasons and beauty of this wondrous world.

Family was important and significant to Brenda. Preceded in death by her parents, she remained close with her siblings and their families although they were scattered across the United States. She was a thoughtful and prayerful sister to two sisters (Natalie Phelps, Amy Rester) and a brother (Joel Liesman), and a generous aunt to twelve nieces and nephews as she tracked their activities and pursuits.

Home Economics was not only Brenda's degree, but her life. She constantly beautified her surroundings, whether it was meal presentation, home decor, landscaping a yard, sewing numerous items for herself or others, and knitting/crocheting. She shared the love of her Lord by graciously sharing with others the fruits of her creations. Despite her own struggles, she listened attentively and always asked others about their life events.

Brenda Liesman will be most remembered for her unwavering faith in the midst of physical trials, dedication to her family, and sharing her creativity and encouragement with all who walked through life alongside her.

Her family would like to thank her doctors at the Mayo Clinic for giving us extra years on her life, and the Mayo Hospice team for their compassionate care and interest at her bedside.
