Brent Wayne Coggins of Lake City, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on April 22, 1959, Brent filled his life with adventure, laughter, and love. Always easy to spot in one of his vibrant shirts and his favorite top hat, he brought joy and color to every room he entered. Surrounded by family and friends in his final days, Brent celebrated life just as he lived it-raising Brandy Manhattans, the family's favorite drink, and giving thanks for God's grace, love, and the special moments they shared together.
Brent was best known to many as "SinGee the Magician." Through his performances, he combined faith, laughter, and wonder to share the message of God's love. His shows were more than entertainment-they were a ministry of joy and inspiration, reminding audiences that with faith, anything is possible.
Beyond his ministry through magic, Brent dedicated his professional life to serving his community. He worked for the City of Rochester and with US Soil Conservation on the South Zumbro flood control project, helping design and improve the city's flood management systems. Later, he worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT), where his knowledge, dedication, and integrity earned him the respect of his colleagues. Brent also ran for Mayor of Rochester in 2016, reflecting his commitment to civic engagement and public service.
A mentor at heart, Brent founded both SinGee's Young Flame and Mystic 13 Magic Clubs, inspiring young magicians to develop their gifts, confidence, and creativity while encouraging them to use their talents to honor God.
He generously supported important causes, performing multiple times for the Eagle's Cancer Telethon, using his magic to help raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer - a cause that became deeply personal when he faced his own leukemia diagnosis in March 2024. He met that challenge with unwavering faith, strength, and grace, continuing to uplift others through his words and example. Brent was a lifelong, active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Rochester. He taught Sunday School for many years and loved sharing the word of God with others.
In his younger years, Brent also helped with lights and sound for local bands including Euphoria, Speed Limit 4, and Booker and Minnie, demonstrating his love for music and community.
Brent enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved being part of a hot air balloon crew, spending time with friends at LTS Brewing Company, and sitting peacefully on his deck overlooking Lake Pepin, where he found serenity and reflection.
Brent would like to extend his heartfelt thanks to all Mayo Clinic staff for their outstanding care, love, and dedication during his treatment, and for never giving up hope for a positive outcome.
Brent is survived by his loving wife, Virginia "Ginny" Coggins of Lake City; his daughter, Jacquelyn (Nate) Proper; stepchildren Jessie Rueb and Jerik (Susan) Brumm; eight grandchildren - Jaxon, Nickolys, Caleb, Kirsten, Clayton, Nina, Ema, and Mia - one great-granddaughter, Eleanor; his brother Lee (Sheila) Coggins; and niece Charlotte Coggins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Alice Coggins.
A celebration of Brent's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life of a man whose faith, kindness, and magic will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, Brent requested that you share a magic trick, a toast, or a story in his honor. Memorials in Brent's honor may be donated to Trinity Lutheran Church or The American Cancer Society.
Though his final performance has ended, the message of faith, love, and hope that SinGee the Magician shared will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
