Brent S. Koster, age 59, passed away in his sleep during the early morning of October 15, 2025, with his loving family in his house.
Brent Stacy Koster was born on April 5, 1966, in River Falls, Wisconsin to Don and Val Koster. Brent had a younger brother, Troy, who has high needs autism. Brent was a proud brother who always made space and time for Troy's needs. Due to the high needs of his brother, Brent's parents put him in many different activities and sports to keep busy. Brent and his family moved to Rochester, MN in the 1970's.
Brent met his loving wife, Dawn, in middle school at John Adams Middle School in Rochester, MN. They both attended John Marshall High School, where Brent was a proud Rocket and active in the marching band. Brent and Dawn reconnected in college and got married on June 24, 1989. They welcomed their son, Brandon, into the world in May 1994 and their daughter, Danielle, in February 1999.
In 1995, Brent became a social worker for Olmsted County, where he was recently celebrated for his 30 years of service to adults with disabilities. There wasn't a place in Rochester where you could go without Brent knowing someone! He left a legacy at the County.
Brent was a very involved and loving father. He was always there to support his children, whether it was coaching different sports, sitting through dance performances, and being very involved with their lives. Brent passed on a love of cars, Star Wars, and traveling to his children.
Brent loved cars. He was the proud owner of a 1967 Ford Mustang. He taught both of his children to drive stick shift with this car. The Koster family would load into the Mustang to go cruising down Broadway and celebrate with ice cream.
Additionally, Brent was a major fan of many Sci-Fi franchises. Brent had many collectables from Star Wars and Star Trek to highlight his love of the movies.
Brent was known for his sense of humor. No matter the situation, Brent had a joke for it. He was able to take a situation and make it better from a few words.
In 2021, Brent was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, Bile Duct Cancer. He fought a long, hard battle, adopting the term "Never Quit" which you could see in his attitude until the very end.
Brent is preceded in death by his father, Don Koster.
