Carletta Werre

December 13, 1950 — November 25, 2024

Reverend Carletta G. Werre, 73, of Rochester passed away at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester on November 25, 2024.

Carla was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on December 13, 1950 to Joseph W. Werre Jr. and Helen (Michelson) Werre.

She grew up in Rochester, MN and received her associates degree from Rochester Community College, her bachelors degree from Winona State University, and her masters of divinity from North American Baptist Seminary.

Carla was ordained at First Baptist Church in Rochester and spent the majority of her working life as the pastor at Madrid Homes in Madrid, Iowa. After retirement, Carla returned to Rochester to be near her family.

Carla had a glorious soprano singing voice and used her gift to bring joy to those around her. She was a member of many singing groups throughout her life. Carla's life was faith centered, and she was an active member of Autumn Ridge Church (First Baptist Church) in Rochester. She continued her ministry in retirement by performing weddings and funerals for families. Carla loved to travel. She was especially proud of her German roots and could speak fluent German. The family cabin in Pequot Lakes, MN was a haven of peace and tranquility for her. She also loved to read, see the latest movies in the theater, and made beautiful homemade cards.

Above all this, Carla adored her family and is survived by her brother Jerald Werre and cherished sister-in-law, Jo Lynn, beloved sister Claudia Finseth (Gerald), brother Bruce Werre, niece Jill Wright (Greg) and their sons (Alex and Evan), niece Julianne Lunde (Todd Emanuel) and their family (Katelyn, Kyra, Simon, Jenna, Kaitlyn (Anthony) and Gianna ), nephew Aaron Werre (Carrie) and their daughters (Lauren and Carynn), nephew Issac Werre (Hilary), her treasured cousins, aunts, and uncle. Carla had a large network of close friends, and the family especially wishes to express their gratitude to her lifelong friend, Joyce Nygaard, who was like another sister to her. The family would also like to thank Carla's wonderful team at Mayo, who helped guide her through her cancer journey (particularly Dr. Natalie Erbs and Dr. Jacob Orme) and the loving team at Seasons Hospice House. Carla was proceeded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law Patricia Werre.

While Carla's life was not as long as she would have liked, she lived her life to the fullest. She will live for eternity in heaven with the words of Matthew 25 ringing in her ears. "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
