Carol Mudderman

Carol Ruth Mudderman died July 23, 2023, in Rochester, MN, at her daughter's home in the care of her daughter and Seasons Hospice.

She was born December 10, 1928 in Fargo, ND to Edwin and Clara Sather and was named Carol because it was so close to Christmas. After graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1946, she worked as a Bell Telephone operator.  In 1950, she married Harold Mudderman and established a home in Moorhead, MN, having four children: Denis, David, Paul and Nancy. Summers were spent at a lake cabin at nearby Cotton Lake and trips around Minnesota. She was active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, particularly the library committee. In the 1970's she worked as a dorm mother at Oak Grove High School in Fargo.

Nature, wildlife and birds were special joys spending summers at Cotton Lake even later in life.  She continued to love day trips around Minnesota, in particular Itasca State Park and the North Shore. When she couldn't travel any longer she loved to watch live webcams of favorite Minnesota destinations.  With her Kindle pad she avidly read books and kept track of news.  More recently she enjoyed watching cable news, Hallmark movies, and reruns of the Beverly Hillbillies.   Her Norwegian heritage was also a passion never passing up a piece of lefse or a lutefisk church supper.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Jon, her sister Sylvia, her daughter-in-law Randi, and her granddaughter Carolyn. She is survived by her four children, her grandson Miles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Her ashes will be buried at Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.

Visitation will be held 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN.
