Carrie Johnson

January 25, 1968 — June 3, 2025

Carrie Ann Johnson (Larson), age 57, passed away with her family by her side on June 3, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota after a 10-year battle with cancer. She fought this battle with true grace, class, and strength, never letting her diagnosis define her.

Born on January 25, 1968, in Valley City, North Dakota. Carrie grew up in Devils Lake, ND with her family. There, she met many who would become her lifelong best friends. Carrie was so proud to stay in touch with her childhood best friends throughout the entirety of her life. Their group chat and reunions were always filled with love, support, and endless amount of laughs. Not to mention, they never let her family forget that she was the Homecoming Queen of the Class of '86.

Carrie grew up with a passion for education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University and later pursued a Master's degree in Educational Technology from Lesley University. This was an achievement that reflected her lifelong commitment to learning and innovation in the classroom. Carrie dedicated her career to special education, serving students with unwavering commitment in both Idaho and Minnesota. In the final years of her life, she was a beloved teacher at Jefferson High School in Bloomington, MN.

Carrie's love extended far beyond the walls of any school. She was the heart and soul of her family-a devoted wife to Ken Johnson; a loving mother to Allison, Taylor, and Madison; and an adoring grandmother to Maliya Suits. She married Ken on August 3rd, 1991. They went on to build the most beautiful life together filled with love and adventure. The most important thing in her life was being a Mom. She was the true definition of unconditional love and support.

Outside of work and family life, Carrie found joy in simple pleasures: basking in the sun, spending weekends at Big Deep Lake, watching her daughters' sporting events, or enjoying a drink on a patio surrounded by her loved ones. Her radiant smile could light up any room, and her infectious laughter made every gathering more joyful.

Carrie is survived by her husband, Ken, her daughters: Allison Suits (BJ and Maliya), Taylor Johnson (fiance John Prickett), Maddie Johnson, and her sister, Linda Stewart (Jason Stewart). Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Donna Larson. Carrie Ann Johnson leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support for those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Carrie's family will share information about a celebration of life at a later date.
