Constance Grahame Rosenow
Constance (Connie) Rosenow, 89, of Rochester Minnesota, died on February 1, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 31st 1936, to Russell and Elizabeth (Belfrage) Grahame in Rocky River, Ohio, where she grew up with her sisters Marjorie and Elizabeth. After graduating from Rocky River High School, Connie obtained a degree in physical therapy from Ohio State University.
At Ohio State she met Edward (Ed) Rosenow, whom she married on September 7th, 1957, in Rocky River. In 1960 they moved to Rochester, Minnesota for Ed's fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and stayed on after he became a staff physician. They remained in Rochester for the rest of their lives except for two years at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey where Ed served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.
Connie will be remembered for her intelligence, quick wit, and devotion to her family. She believed strongly in the importance of helping others and was actively involved in volunteer work throughout her life. She provided physical therapy support for patients at the Rochester State Hospital; she was the brownie and girl scout troop leader for her daughter and some 40 rambunctious girls; and more recently she was on the board of, and volunteered at, Safe Haven Animal Shelter (closed 2023). She gave her time and support to a range of charities for people, animals, political issues, and the arts (including the Rochester Art Center and the Minneapolis Institute of Art).
After her children were grown, she worked at the Mayowood Antique Gallery in the Kahler Hotel. She loved this job because she learned about English antiques and met many interesting people; including Mayo patients that stopped in because they needed someone to talk to. Connie was happy to be there for them and remained friends with some for many years.
Connie's love of animals was evident by the wide variety of pets in the house when her children were young and numerous beloved dogs over the years; but her favorites were her two horses. She spent many years learning dressage and enjoyed riding with her friends Bette and Winnie. When asked her favorite scent she said the smell of horses.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Edward Carl Rosenow III. She is survived by her children Sheryl Rosenow (Brian O'Shea) and Scott Rosenow (Kathleen); grandchildren Christian Rosenow (Hana) and Katherine Rosenow; and two great grandchildren Callahan and Hudson Rosenow.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Mayo Clinic Hospice and Visiting Angels for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. However, a special memory or condolence can be shared on the Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester, Minnesota are appreciated. https://www.pawsandclaws.org/wpweb/donate/
