Dale Fiek passed away on July 11th at age 96 after declining health due to Alzheimer's disease and a short illness.
Dale was born at home in Pine Island on June 21st 1930 to Francis and Grace Fiek. The family moved to Faribault and then to Wabasha during Dale's elementary school years. They moved to Rochester when Dale was in the 7th grade. Dale was a graduate of Rochester High School.
In 1951 Dale was inducted into the US Army and served his country at Fort Richardson in Alaska during the Korean War. After his discharge he worked at Roth's Food Town. He met Ruth Nygren, a nursing student during this time. They were married on August 4th 1956 and enjoyed 68 years together. Dale worked at Rochester Public Utilities for 33 years in various roles. After retirement he bagged groceries at Hy-Vee Barlows for 21 years. He truly loved his 2nd career at Barlows.
Dale enjoyed camping and traveling with Ruth. They could be found bicycling together on the area trails. They attended Church at Rochester Covenant and Evangel Methodist.
Dale is survived by son Steve Fiek (Debbie), daughter Nancy Bremseth (Dan), and grand children John Fiek, Stevie Bertram (Jake) and Sam Fiek (Fiancee Amber Jimenez). Great grandchildren Tyler, Jack, Luke, George and Collins. Sister in-law Betty Fiek and brother and sister in-law Rusty and Geri Fiek and many Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by wife Ruth, parents Francis and Grace Fiek, brother Harlen Fiek and in-laws Rev. Paul and Mable Nygren and brother and sister in-law Paul and Elaine Nygren.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday July 20, 2026, at Evangel United Methodist Church (2645 N. Broadway Ave.). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
