Daniel Anders Lybeck, 67, passed away at his home in Dodge Center, Minnesota.
Daniel was born on July 5, 1959, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, to Amos O. Lybeck and Margaret E. Hauger Lybeck. He grew up in Byron and graduated from Byron High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge.
Daniel attended Rochester Community College and went on to earn a degree in civil engineering from Fargo, North Dakota. He worked for McGee and Betts for several years before continuing his career with the City of Rochester until retirement.
Daniel enjoyed reading, playing the trumpet, putting puzzles together, and checking the Farmers' Almanac for weather predictions. He also had a fondness for trucks. Frugal and practical, he was often the first person to get up and clear the table.
He liked teasing people and making them smile. A loyal son and brother, and friend. Daniel regularly checked on his mother and siblings. He loved his extended family, enjoyed visiting his cousins, and kept in touch with family members and friends. These everyday gestures were part of how he showed his care for the people in his life.
Daniel is survived by his sister, Amy Lybeck of Red Wing, Minnesota; his nieces, Ashley Spriggle of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Nicole Lyons (Mason) of Gilbert, Arizona; two great-nephews; one great-niece; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Bruce Lybeck.
