Daniel Matheson

Daniel Briggs Matheson, 69, passed away December 13, 2024, after a 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his family and lovingly cared for at home.

Dan was born March 10, 1955, to Robert and Marlys Matheson in Rochester, MN. He attended Golden Hill, Central and graduated from Mayo High School in 1973. He was a master plumber and worked throughout southeastern Minnesota at several commercial buildings, including IBM, Mayo Clinic, Galleria, as well as homes in the area.

He married Sylvia Jean Berntson on July 16, 1977. They made their home in Rochester and raised 4 children. Kristi (Ken Bremer), Melissa (Tim Peterson), Sara (Matt Counsell), and Tim Matheson.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, his children, grandchildren, Cody and Dylan Hughes, Dannica and Madison Borchardt, and Camden Counsell, sisters Brenda Hacker, and Rebecca Gobin (Larry). He cherished his family and loved to take everyone hunting, fishing, and camping. He was always ready to listen and help. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, 2 younger brothers, his grandmothers, and many other relatives.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Ave SW, Rochester, MN. The family of Dan wishes to thank St Croix Hospice for their support and help during Dan's final days.
