Della J. Jenkins, of Rochester, MN, passed away in Rochester, MN on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Della was born to James and Edith (Jaeger) Hixson on July 21, 1947, in Columbia Heights, MN. Della attended Marion College in Indiana where she met her husband of 56 years, David Jenkins.

She taught elementary school for two years before becoming a domestic engineer (stay at home mom) to four boys whom she taught to be loving and kindhearted.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, playing cards, spending time with her grandkids and was an active member of Oak Hills Wesleyan Church.

She was an avid traveler and visited all 50 states and numerous countries around the globe.

She is survived by her husband David and children: Matthew (Susan), Andrew (Molly), Benjamin (Alexis), and Peter; six grandchildren: Carmen Sharp, Meredith, Lewis, Chloe, Joseph, and Evan Jenkins, and her brother James Hixson Jr. (Bettina).

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ellen Johnson & Carol Baune.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 2 pm at Oak Hills Wesleyan Church, 410 28th Street SW, Rochester, MN 55902. Memorials may be given to Hiawatha Homes.
