Rochester- Funeral Services for Earl W. Potvin, 96 who died at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday, February 28th, 2011, will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, on Friday, March 4th at 1:30 P.M. With Rev. William Otte Officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 12:30 P.M. Until the time of service.Earl W. Potvin was born December 3, 1914 to Henry and Dorothy (Pederson) Potvin in Minneapolis. He and his family moved to Rochester when he was a child. He graduated from Rochester High School and attended Rochester Junior College. Earl married Jewell V. Knowlton in Rochester. He worked for his father at the Potvin Body and Fender Shop. During World War II he and his wife moved to Michigan where he welded on large ships. During the war years, Earl and Jewell moved to Chicago where he worked on locomotives. They returned to Rochester, and he once again worked with his dad. They then moved to Perham, MN. in 1955 where he owned and operated a bowling alley. In 1960 he came back to Rochester and went to work for Adamson Motors doing alignment's and painting. After he retired he and his wife enjoyed going South during the Winter, either to Texas or Florida. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He liked to bowl and teach both children and Seniors how to bowl. He liked to brag about how well his student bowlers did. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.Earl is survived by his wife, Jewell; three daughters, Pamela Potvin of Denver, CO,Tanis Eaker (Wayne) of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Janet Potvin of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Sayat Potvin, Racheal Schroeder, Lyne Eaker, Taikai Eaker and Dawn Ross; and nine great great grandchildren.
