Gary L. Rogness, 83, of Rochester, MN passed away at his home on May 20, 2026.
Gary was born on May 3, 1943, in Ossian, IA to Gustav and Irene (Johnson) Rogness. He grew up in Ossian and later moved to Minneapolis, MN. On August 14, 1971, Gary married Ginger Jandl in Fairfax, MN. The couple resided in Minneapolis until 1972 when they moved to Rochester, MN. Throughout his life, he worked in construction, manufacturing, the hotel and hospitality industry, insurance and securities, and at IBM and Celestica in quality control in both Rochester, MN and Poughkeepsie, NY.
Gary really enjoyed singing, the friends he made, and all the camaraderie in the SPEBSQSA society. He was in several Barbershop Quartets, including Sunshine Boys, Downstate Express, and Legacy (in New York). Downstate Express were the 1982 District Champions and the 2004 International Seniors Quartet Champions. The quartet members are the brothers he never had. His pride and joy were his kids and was very involved in every aspect of their lives. He was huge fan in all the sports they participated in, as well an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings.
Gary is survived by his wife, Ginger; his children, Laura Rogness, and David (Audrey) Rogness; grandson, Carter Rogness; 4 brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ryan; and sister, Marilyn Heth.
