Gerald "Jerry" Chadderton, age 86 of Rochester MN, and husband of the late Judy (Herron) Chadderton, passed away on Sunday September 28, 2025 in Rochester, at The Homestead of Rochester Senior Living Center after a short but courageous battle of bladder cancer.
Jerry was born June 26, 1939 at Placer County Hospital in Grass Valley CA. After graduating High School, Jerry joined the US Navy. He loved talking about his Navy years, and how very proud he has always been of the Military.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Jerry followed his father's steps in the insurance business. He worked for Combined Insurance for over 40 years, in sales then management. He met his to-be wife, Judy Herron, at Combined Insurance. They were married in Des Moines IA on June 15, 1963, and their daughter, Jolene, was born June 24, 1965 in Hastings, Nebraska. After their retirement, the family moved to Rochester MN to be near family.
Jerry and Judy had a passion for travel, and had visited every state in the Country. They also volunteered for many organizations. One favorite was St Judes in Nevada. For eight winters they volunteered at St Judes Ranch for Abused and Abandoned Children in Boulder City, Nevada. Jerry enjoyed a good game of cards until his onset of dementia. Jerry had a deep Christian Faith and was thankful for having been blest with the Eucharist and Last Rites before passing.
Jerry will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jolene, of Rochester MN, His cousin Barbara Jean Kershaw of CA, His sister-in-law, Jody (John) Lyons of Parachute, CO. His brothers-in law Wayne Herron, of Rochester MN and Walt Herron, of Indianola, IA and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Judy, also his father, John Chadderton of Carson City, CA. and Mother Phyllis Brooks of CA. and Step-Mother, Mill (Mildred) Miller, CA.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Orange Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids IA with Military Honors Tribute by the Coon Rapids American Legion. Father Peter Pham will be officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the Graveside Service at the home of Jerry and Nancy Hagan.
