Glenn R., "Grandpa Texas," Hawley, of Midland, TX, passed away at 87 years old on March 21, 2026 in Austin, MN surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1938 in Blue Earth, MN to George and Beata Hawley. He grew up with his brother Roy, sisters Janice and Joyce. Glenn was a standout wrestler and played football at Rochester High School, where he earned the nickname '110%.'
Glenn married Nancy DeFor on July 18, 1959, and raised their family in Rochester, MN. He served in the Minnesota National Guard and worked at IBM as an electroplater for 35 years. He once trained and completed a marathon, just for something to do.
Glenn moved to Texas at the start of his retirement in 1987 and quickly grew to love life there. He spent the last 23 years of his life in Midland, Texas.
Glenn was twice widowed but never short on good company. He had a personality somewhere between the grandpa on The Goldbergs and George Strait's Greatest Hits. He stayed active by volunteering at the Petroleum Museum and the local food pantry. He enjoyed treasure hunting, red wine, and old westerns.
We'll remember his fearless spirit, iconic bolo ties, and heavy laugh.
Glenn is survived by his children: Kathy (Tom), Ann (Ronny), and Roger (Mike); grandchildren: Dana, Nicole (Ben), Courtney (Jon), and Ryan (Emily); great-grandchildren: Paul, Jack, Owen, Mia, Kymberly, and Connor; his sister, Janice; and his longtime companion of eight years, Dixie.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Nancy, who passed away in 1992; his second wife, Jacquelyn, who passed away in 2004; his brother, Roy (Ardith); and his sister, Joyce.
