Glenn S Ryberg

Glenn Ryberg was born in LaCrosse, WI, on November 20, 1930, to Samuel and Leafie (Nelson) Ryberg. He was raised on a farm in "Swede Bottom" in Houston, MN, where he graduated from high school in 1948.

He served in the U.S. Army in 1954-1955 and then graduated with a B.S. in agriculture and animal husbandry from the University of MN in 1958. He served as an agricultural extension agent in Dakota County, the University of MN, and Anoka County.

He married Lorraine Lindholm on June 16, 1962, in Minneapolis and moved to Grand Meadow, MN, in 1964 where he hog and crop farmed until his retirement. He and Lorraine moved to Rochester in 2003.

Glenn volunteered as Director on the board of Mower County Farm Bureau for many years, taught Sunday School, was a 4-H Club leader, and regularly volunteered on local outreach service projects at Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch and through his church. He also served on short-term missions to Alaska, Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, and Peru, mostly with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Glenn was a member of Autumn Ridge Church.

He enjoyed traveling in many states of the U.S. as well as Europe, Israel and Jordan. Glenn will be remembered for his sharp wit, voracious reading of books (especially history), generosity with his time and money, love of family, and passion for all to know and love his Savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughter-in-law Dianne Orth (Larry) of Rochester, grandchildren Macai Olson (Luke) of N. St. Paul, Renee Cabalka (Connor) of Rochester, Benjamin Orth (Brittney) of Liberty Lake, WA, and Rebecca Marsh (Samuel), Pilot Mountain, NC, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, son David, and daughter Susan.

A small graveside service will be held in early July. Memorial gifts may be directed to Autumn Ridge Church or a charity of your choice.
