Gordon L. Merck, 66, of Hamburg, MN passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at his home. Gordon was born January 19, 1956 in Moose Lake, MN to Raymond and Carolyn (Lundahl) Merck. He was a 1974 graduate of Mayo High School and went on to obtain his Associates degree in 1977 from Rochester Community College. Gordon was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing year round. As part of his love of fishing, he was a member of Fishers of Men, where they would take inner city children fishing and teach them about the great outdoors. Gordon was very mechanical and was always fixing things around the house. He was a coin collector, played volleyball and loved the sport of finding a good deal. Gordon had a love for cats and exotic animals and often had a snake or tarantula as a pet. He enjoyed playing cards, board games and going target shooting. Gordon was intellectual, and analytical but was also very thoughtful and a child at heart. Gordon is survived by his father, Raymond Merck; brother, Stanley Merck; sister, Brenda (Mark) Garbisch and a host of extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn; brothers, Jeffrey and Robert and by his sister, Kathy Merck. A Celebration of Gordon's life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 5500 25th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation will be held 1:00 PM until time of service. Rev. Larry Orth will be officiating with inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery.
