Helen Jean Klingsporn

Helen Jean (Kulsrud) Klingsporn went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 20, 2022. She was 97 years old having been born on February 20, 1925 to Tilford and Laura Kulsrud. Helen was number 5 in a family of 9 siblings. On October 18,1947, she married Robert (Bob) Klingsporn at Union Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro. They made their home in Rochester until 1956 when they moved to "up north" to Hoyt Lakes then on to Lake Vermilion, Tower before returning to Rochester in 1997, due to health issues. In 2003 after her husband's death, Helen moved to Real Life Senior Cooperative. She made many friends, was very active in different committees, special dinners and loved po-ke-no every Sunday evening. Helen moved to BeeHive Homes in Elk River in January of 2020. Helen was an active member in all the churches she was a member of including Faith Lutheran in Hoyt Lakes, Immanuel Lutheran in Tower and Bethel Lutheran in Rochester. Besides being an active church member, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who was an excellent cook and baker. No one ever left Helen's house with an empty stomach. She was very creative in her lifetime having made decorative items for display inside and outside of the home. She took part in many community activities over the years including the Penguin Snowmobile Club, Greenwood Fire Department Auxiliary and many more too numerous to mention. Her family will always remember the many Christmas' and 4th of July celebrations she hosted. Helen is survived by her three children - Marcia (Ronald) Vietanen, Hoyt Lakes, MN; Sharon Vogel, Elk River, MN and Steven Klingsporn, Golden, CO., 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 15 great, great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Julie (Roger) Kulsrud and one brother-in-law Don (Pauline) Billman; numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bob, her parents and 9 siblings; one grandson in infancy and one son-in-law. The family would like to thank BeeHive Homes of Elk River and Guardian Angels Hospice for their kind and loving care over the past two years. A special thanks to Bethel Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 3rd Ae. SE, Rochester, MN with Rev. Anjanette Bandel officiating.
