Hildegard Bivainis

Hildegard K. Bivainis, 94, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on June 9, 2026, at Cascade Creek Memory Care in Rochester.

Hildegard was born on July 21, 1931, in Willich, Germany, to parents Paul and Bertha (Gries) Koerner. It was there that she attended school and spent her early years. On January 31, 1950, she married the love of her life, Antanas Bivainis, in Bochum, Germany. Together they began their life journey, moving to Canada in 1950 before settling in Rochester, Minnesota, in 1957. Hildegard worked for IBM in quality control.

Outside of work, she and her husband enjoyed spending winters in Texas for more than 25 years. In her free time, Hildegard found joy in being outdoors, whether it was walking or raking her yard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antanas Bivainis, who passed away in 2011; and her parents, Paul and Bertha. Hildegard is survived by her son, Edmund "Eddy" Bivainis of Rochester, Minnesota, and her daughter, Cindy (Paul) Vermilyea, along with other family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester, with Father Luis Vargas officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
