Irene Maze

Irene Florence Maze, 92, of Rochester, MN passed away on November 7, 2025, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN.

Irene was born on January 31, 1933, in Collegeville Township, MN, to Raymond and Luella (Hansen) Menke. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, MN. In 1952, she married Glenn Alexander in St. Cloud. They owned and operated the Tam-O-Shanter Inn in Chatfield from 1969-1976. Glenn passed away in 1983.

From 1983-1994, Irene worked for Mayo Clinic. She married Dr. Aurelius H. Maze in Rochester in 1992. He passed away in 2007.

Irene was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, St. Pius CCW, was church lector, Eucharistic Minister, Hospital Communication Minister, Rochester Methodist Hospital Auxiliary, St. Raphael's Guild, Mayo Clinic Friendship Club, and was active on many St. Pius Church committees.

Irene enjoyed golf, quilting, playing Bridge, sewing, volunteer work, spending some time in Arizona, mostly time with family.

Irene is survived by her sons, Terrance (Kathleen) of Saline, MI, Timothy (Sharon) of Victoria, MN, Todd (Kristin) of Mantorville, MN; daughter, Michelle (Rick) Brevig of Preston, MN; sister, Dorothy Wollak of Inver Grove Heights, MN; 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren; and her stepchildren, Mary Delora Foster, Paulanne Maze, Estelle Gerard) Kapsner, Noelle (Bruce) Bjerva, and Joe (Bonnie) Maze.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jerome, Leroy, Virgil, and James; LuVerne Seman, Elizabeth, and Jean Larson; both husbands, Glenn Alexander and Dr. Aurelius Maze; brothers-in-law, Stephen Seman, Claude Wollak, and Dennis Larson.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 14, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1315 12th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
