Janet Lorraine Silker was born June 11, 1933 in Rochester, Minnesota to Dr. Harold George and Luella Renata Silker. She passed away on Thursday, August 20th at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Methodist. Janet married Clifford Ford on April 7, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They enjoyed traveling, camping and watching the Minnesota Twins. Many weekends were spent boating on the Mississippi River on the family houseboat or visiting Cliff's family in the Willmar area. She cherished time with her family and was thankful they all lived close. Janet was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Janet graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing in 1956 and received her master's degree from Winona State University in 1970. Janet first worked at Saint Marys School of Nursing as a clinical instructor in the diploma Nursing Program for 12 years. When Rochester Community College opened, Janet became a Nursing Instructor in the Associate Degree Nursing Program and worked there for 28 years. She retired from Rochester Community and Technical College in 1996. Janet is survived by Harold (Donna) Ford, Renata (Mark) Iverson, Laura (Corey) West, Bill (Patty) Ford, and Annetta Ford Roadas (Dan Perrotte). Grandchildren: Janet (Nate) Dickinson, Charles (Kerry) Herron, Halvor Iverson, Izzy Iverson, Sam (Kathryn)West, Sarah West, Jacob West, Dylan Ford, Connor Ford, Trevor (Sasha) Ford, Maddie Ford, Sidney Ford, Dominick Roadas, Natalie Roadas, and six great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her spouse, Clifford, granddaughters, Chelsea, Bailey, and her parents. We would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home and the nurses on Eisenberg Station 44 for the great care they provided Mom during her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home, Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's Disease Research, or a memorial of your choice. A private family service will be held on Friday, August 28th.
