Janet Piens

Janet L. Piens, age 95, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025 at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth in Rochester, MN.

Janet Lenore Piens was born December 18, 1929 in Rochester, MN the daughter of Sylvester and Marion (Wilson) Robinson. She was a 1948 graduate of Rochester High School. Following high school she worked for a few years at Mayo Clinic in the centrifuge lab. Janet was united in marriage to Dean Piens on June 1, 1952. They farmed on the Piens family farm in Grand Meadow until 1957 when they made their home in Rochester, MN. Dean went to work for Marigold Dairies and Janet worked part time for Northrop Elementary School in the kitchen and did sewing of draperies. She also taught Sunday school at Zumbro Lutheran Church and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Janet loved sewing and made many clothes for herself and her family. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting and weaving, antique shopping, garage sales. She loved and cherished her family. At Christmas time she made her beloved Norwegian Christmas bread, a recipe she got from her mother. In 1989, Janet traveled to London with her family. Janet enjoyed her daily walks with her son, Brad.

She is survived by her children, Andrea (Thomas) Kuich of Springfield, MO, Dana (Jill) Piens of Sterling Heights, MI and Brad Piens of Rochester, MN; two grandchildren, Joshua (Madalyn) Muncy-Piens and Katie (Carl) McManus; two great grandchildren, Myles and Cecilia Muncy-Piens; brother, Dale Robinson of Rochester, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Piens; her parents; brothers, Duane Robinson and Dudley Robinson.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery, 38 7th Ave. NE, Rochester, MN with Pastor Dave Berg of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church officiating.
