Jonathan "Abe" Abraham Jones was born on June 26, 1970, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Mark and Pamela (VanKirk) Jones. He passed away on October 27, 2026, at his home in Rochester, Minnesota.
On May 10, 1980, Abe was involved in an automobile accident while riding his bicycle, an event that changed the course of his life. Despite the challenges he faced, Abe brought joy and laughter to those around him. His contagious smile and laughter could brighten anyone's day.
Abe enjoyed playing UNO and watching movies. He was a devoted Superman fan and would often proudly tell others that he was Superman himself. From his clothing to his collectibles, and other Superman-themed treasures, his collection was a reflection of something he truly loved and brought him happiness. Abe enjoyed living in his own home in Rochester with his three roommates, where he was supported by the wonderful staff at Hiawatha Homes. Having a place to call his own was an important part of his life, and the support he received helped him live in his community.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Mark and Mary Jones of Northfield, Minnesota; his two sisters, Anissa Jones of Austin, Minnesota, and Jaime (Adam) Paukert of Northfield, Minnesota; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela VanKirk, paternal grandparents, Richard and Dorothy Jones, and his maternal grandparents, Jerome VanKirk and DeEtte Brass.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Nancy Hovey, Abe's co-conservator, for her many years of dedication, support, and care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hiawatha Homes in honor of Abe, in gratitude for the care, support and kindness they provided throughout his life.
