Julie Ann Roth Nelson of Rochester, MN passed away on Monday, October 18 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus. Julie was born on November 12, 1944 to parents William and Veida Roth. She grew up on a farm near Utica, MN. She graduated from St Charles High School, Grace College in Indiana, and Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester. Julie was married to Douglas Nelson on August 3, 1968 in Rochester. She worked at Methodist Hospital and Olmsted County Community Hospital in Rochester. She raised two children, Peter and Lisa, before returning back to work at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center, followed by seventeen years as a hospice nurse at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Julie enjoyed travelling most of the United States, including Alaska. She visited Israel, Greece, and Germany. She was a long-time member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester. She enjoyed holding the babies in the church nursery. Julie is survived by her husband, Doug, children, Peter (Kitty) Nelson of Minneapolis, MN, and Lisa (David) Heil of Rosemount, MN; three grandchildren, Benjamin Heil, Clint Fernandes, and Manda (Zach) Trochman, brothers Richard (Marcy) Roth, Roger (Karen) Roth, Augy (Julie) Roth; sister Delores (Paul) Moechnig,and sister-in-law Jan Roth. Julie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tony Roth. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Calvary Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
