June Hain

May 19, 1926 — April 25, 2025

June Alice (Eggler) Hain, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, surrounded by family at The Homestead Rochester Rehabilitation and Living Center.

June was born May 19, 1926 in Rochester, Minnesota, the daughter of Victor and Lillie (Betz) Eggler. Growing up on a dairy farm in rural Rochester, June attended a country grade-school before attending and graduating from Rochester High School in 1943. After high school, she worked a few different jobs in Rochester, but was often called back to the family farm to help her parents. On October 27, 1948, she married Joseph Hain at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. June and Joe grew up knowing each other since childhood, having lived on neighborhood farms. They started their life together as the 3rd generation on the Hain family farm.

A talented seamstress, June created countless outfits for her family and later for her grandchildren. Using those same skills, June created numerous quilts and drapes for family and friends as well as part of the sewing staff for many years at St. Marys Hospital. June was very dedicated to helping others and supporting the community. She served as a home health aide with Olmsted County and would visit and make deliveries to the elderly and shut-ins. She participated in 4-H as both a youth and adult leader. June stayed focused on prompting her children to finish their projects in time for the fair. Later she was also part of the 4-H Alumni Association. June was an enthusiastic supporter of the Olmsted County Fair helping to check in projects on those very busy entry days, as well as coordinating the acts on the talent stage. In retirement, June also became an accomplished woodcarver creating numerous items, both large and small, displayed around her home and shared with others, which have become family treasures.

Faith was an important part of June's life. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, having been born, baptized, and married, in additional to serving on many committees and organizational groups during her lifetime. June loved playing cards, with Joe as her partner, enjoying their time with friends. June delighted in sharing her many skills and talents with her children and grandchildren.

In 1990, June and Joe retired from the farm and moved into Rochester, although never too far away to continue to lend a helping hand as needed to their son who continued as the 4th generation farmer. As time permitted, June and Joe found time to do some traveling overseas and to also spend time with family and grandchildren. In 2007, they moved to The Homestead, where they continued to play cards and make many new friends. June was also a good will ambassador to many new neighbors. Joe died November 30, 2014.

June's legacy lives on through her five children: Ellen Gibb of York, PA; Sue Pries of Byron, MN; Joanne (Arlen) Heathman of Rochester; Ernie (Janeane) Hain of Rochester; and Benjamin (Kelly) Hain of Rochester. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Joe, her sister Phyllis Timm, and her brothers Casper and Stanley.

A memorial service to honor June's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church (810 3rd Ave. SE, Rochester, MN). Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home (5421 Royal PL NW, Rochester, MN), and one hour prior to the service at the church.
