Larry Turner

October 16, 1938 — November 23, 2025

Larry June Turner, 87, of Stewartville, Minnesota, died November 23, 2025 in Cascade Creek Memory Care.

Larry was born October 16, 1938 in Ainsworth, Nebraska. His family moved to Greeley, Colorado, where he graduated from Greeley High School. Larry moved to Minnesota in 1966 where he met his wife Carol Skoglund at a church convention in Hector, Minnesota. They were married on October 12, 1968 in Barnum, Minnesota and they made their home on a hobby farm near Elk River, Minnesota. Larry worked at Mate Precision in Anoka for 30 years. In 2006, they sold their farm in Elk River and moved to a hobby farm in Stewartville to be closer to family.

Larry and Carol were foster parents for nine years. They have three sons of their own, all who survive their father. Dean lives in Hudson, Wisconsin, Bruce (Amie) live in Stewartville, Minnesota, and Ross (Breanna) live in Dexter, Minnesota. He will be missed by seven grandchildren, Braden, Blake, Will, Brielle, Elsie, Stella, and Carson. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Jim and Betty Huisman, sister-in-law Jean Holman, and brother-in-law Steve Miller, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents (Harry and Elsie Turner), two brothers (Gale and Bud), and three sisters (Joyce Schwartz, Fern Printz, and Zella Tossie), father and mother-in-law (Elvin and Doris Skoglund), brother-in-law (Charles Holman), and sister-in-law (Marian Miller).

Larry had a strong faith in God. He appreciated what God had done for him and for the fellowship he was able to have with others in like faith. Larry was known for his one-liners and generous spirit. He was skilled in many things and could do pretty much anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and tinkering in his shop. In 2009, Larry and Carol bought a home in Mission, Texas and enjoyed spending winters down there.

The family appreciates the wonderful loving care Larry received for six and a half years from Riverbend Memory Care and Cascade Creek Memory Care in Rochester, Minnesota. They also are so grateful for the loving care of Mayo Hospice.
