Lloyd Wasson

December 25, 1939 — December 4, 2025

Lloyd Alan Wasson, 85, of Rochester, MN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Waters on Mayowood with family members and his loyal cat Ellie by his side.

Lloyd was born on December 25, 1939, to Stanley Wasson and Helen (Pratt) Wasson in Binghamton, NY. He graduated as Valedictorian from Harpursville High School (N.Y.) in 1957. On October 22, 1960, Lloyd married Marsha Ann Daniels at the Harpursville Methodist Church. He graduated from Broome Community College in 1962 with an AAS in Electrical Technology.

Prior to graduation, Lloyd began work at IBM in Endicott, N.Y. In 1965 he moved his young family to Rochester, MN to continue his career with IBM. He began as an Electrical Technician but quickly moved into Programming Products, Development/Architecture and finally working as Team Lead on various aspects of the AS400. In 1996 Lloyd retired from IBM. He finished his career with eight years of contract work at CIBER, Inc.

Lloyd and Marsha enjoyed traveling the world together, visiting many places by bike, car, plane and cruise ship. They volunteered at the local food shelf, and he volunteered at the Senior Center and 125Live in the computer lab. Lloyd played basketball at college and through the years he was involved in volleyball, softball, bowling, biking and card clubs. He loved choral music and sang with the choir at Bethany United Methodist Church, the Rochester Symphony & Chorale, and the Young at Heart Singers. For years Lloyd was part of Resounding Voices, first as a partner to his wife Marsha, then as a Board Member and volunteer, and in his last years as a participant with dementia.

Lloyd was a full-time caregiver for 5 years to Marsha after she experienced a stroke in 2015. He was tireless in his love, care and advocacy for her well-being. Lloyd leaves behind a legacy of loving kindness and compassion.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Katherine and Lorna, a brother David, and his wife Marsha. He is survived by his children: Steve (Susan) Wasson, Mary (Paul) Honermann, Tim (Kimbra) Lee-Wasson, and Cindy (Clint) Baumgartner, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, (with three more great-grandchildren on the way).

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Visiting Angels and The Waters on Mayowood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Resounding Voices, a community choir for people with dementia and mild memory loss. Read about it and donate using the link at https://www.resoundingvoices.org/. Checks may also be sent to Resounding Voices 1530 Greenview Dr SW, #120, Rochester, MN 55902.
