Lois Christianson, 95, passed away on March 8, 2026, and her funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 16 at Zumbro Lutheran Church. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed at https://www.zumbrolutheran.org/funerals
Lois Jean Blexrud was born on November 25, 1930, in Caledonia, Minnesota to Knute and Gertie Blexrud and grew up on a farm near Spring Grove. Following graduation from Spring Grove High School, Lois worked at the local bank while her future husband, Chris, joined the U.S. Navy and was deployed to Japan. Lois remained in Spring Grove until December 26, 1953, when she married her high school sweetheart, Luverne "Chris" Christianson.
Shortly thereafter, her in-laws drove her to San Francisco to await a two-week transport via a Navy cargo vessel to Yokosuka, Japan. It was on that ship that Lois made many life-long friends with other Navy wives. In 1956, Lois and Chris returned to the U.S., bringing with them their first daughter. In 1959, the couple moved to Rochester where they continued to reside until this day. They were lifelong members of Zumbro Lutheran Church.
Lois worked for the Rochester school district for over twenty years, retiring from John Marshall High School in 1991.
Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lois loved traveling, spending time with family and friends, watching the Vikings every Sunday during football season and playing cards.
Survivors include three daughters, Marcia (Dave) O'Brien; Debbie (Brad) Brodsho; and Greta (Tim) Johnson; six grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Chris, her parents and siblings.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Zumbro Lutheran Church. Internment at Oakwood Cemetery.
