Loretta Clare Plevak

May 20, 1927 — October 17, 2021

Loretta Clare (Koerschner) Plevak of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021 at the age of 94. Loretta was born in Cudahy, WI on May 20th, 1927, the day Charles Lindberg completed his historic trans-Atlantic flight. She was third oldest of eight children born to Edward and Hildegarde Koerschner. Loretta married her High School classmate and beloved husband Daniel Lawrence Plevak on June 8, 1951 in Merced, CA in the Castle AFB chapel. Loretta and Dan spent 20 years in the Air Force making their home in a dozen states and overseas, eventually moving to Rochester in 1995. During their time in the military they made many lifelong friends who they kept in close contact with throughout their lives. Loretta's passions were many. She loved being a wife, mother of six, grandmother to 15 and a great grandmother to 13. She enjoyed traveling with Dan; they took many trips, including some overseas. She maintained a close, personal, and loving connection with many friends and family. Her ministry was encouraging people through letters and cards. Loretta also kept journals of her day to day activities, a precious gift to her family. Loretta loved being a homemaker, which included canning, cooking, and baking; apple, cherry and pumpkin pies were her specialties. She enjoyed crafts of ceramics, needle point and embossing. As her husband was transferred with the military, she joined many church activities including singing in the chapel choir. Loretta is survived by her children, David J (Marisa) of CO, Catherine A (Paul) Hering of Minneapolis, Daniel G (late Deedra) of WI, Matthew F (Lynelle) of Rochester, and a special niece Mary Chris Grede (Scott) Kleinschmidt of WI. Loretta is also survived by her sister Barbara (J Howard) Wichgers WI, brothers, John (Jeannette) Koerschner TX, William (Phyllis) Kerschner WI, Frederick (Frances) Koerschner ME, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Koerschner as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all over the world. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Daniel of 56 years, her infant son Stephen E and son Anthony W, her grandson Elijah Plevak, her parents Edward and Hildegarde Koerschner, her brother Edward Koerschner, and her sisters Rosemary Higgins and Ann Grede as well as the deceased members of Ann's immediate family. A funeral Mass will be held on October 28, 2021 at 11AM at Madonna Towers in Rochester (4001 19th Ave. NW, Rochester MN). A visitation will be held at 10:30 AM immediately prior to the funeral Mass.
