Marcia Harms

Marcia Harms (nee Maloney), age 88 of Rochester, passed away on June 7, 2024 at Samaritan Bethany.

Marcia Lynn Maloney was born on March 4, 1936 to Orville "Jack" and Althea "Babe" (Hagen) Maloney in Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up in Detroit Lakes and graduated high school in 1954 and went on to attend Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in elementary Education in 1958. After college, Marcia accepted a job in Rochester. She met Robert "Bob" Harms and the couple were married in 1962. Together they worked and raised their family in Rochester. Marcia had a long teaching career followed by many years of substitute teaching.

Marcia was a true extrovert. She loved to be around people, whether it be bringing them baked goods or working the crowd at a family wedding. A stranger was just a friend she hadn't met yet. Marcia had a true passion for children. They were always excited to see Marcia's big purse because they knew they were going to get something from her bag; whether it be a piece of candy or a sticker. Her faith was a large part of her life, there was no issue too small to be put on her prayer chain. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marcia is survived by her husband of 61 1/2 years, Bob; her children Timothy (Mary), Michael (Maureen), and Pamela Hamman; daughter-in-law Heather Harms; grandchildren Thomas, Andrew, Sarah, John, Julia, Maggie, Peter, Katie, Makenna, and Bridget; great-granddaughter Lana; brother Patrick (Doris) Maloney; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Kevin, and brother Michael.

Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation will be from 5-7PM on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Funeral Home and also 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Emmanuel Lutheran Building Fund.
