Margie Barrows

Margie F. Barrows, age 73, of Rochester, MN passed away August 30, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Margie Francine Barrows was born September 14, 1951 in Riceville, IA the daughter of Frank and Marjorie (Wells) Suhr. She was a 1969 graduate of Mayo High School and earned her secretarial degree from Rochester Vo-Tech. She worked for the University of Minnesota in Rochester and as a switchboard operator for Rochester Community Technical College retiring in 2011.

Margie was united in marriage to Charles Barrows on May 12, 1979 at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. They were blessed with two children, Sarah and Joshua and 46 years of marriage.

Margie loved traveling, scrapbooking, baking, cooking and canning, and could recollect names and dates. She took great pride in her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished friendships with her Curves group. Margie was fiercely independent, strong willed, and a free spirit; traits that helped her through her health challenges.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Barrows of Rochester, MN; daughter, Sarah (Joel) Gordon of Rochester, MN; son, Joshua Barrows of Rochester, MN; four grandchildren, Jakob Barrows, Joel Gordon II, Katherine Gordon, and Gabrielle Barrows; her sister, Jeannie (Tom) Hoffman of Elgin, MN; her brother, John Suhr of Rochester, MN; her brother-in-law, Tom Jones of Cumberland, WI along with extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marjorie Suhr and sister, Laurie Jones.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 5, 2025 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Ave. NE, Rochester, MN. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, MN.
