Marilyn Sue Asfahl

Marilyn S. Asfahl, 83, of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side.

Marilyn Sue (Ludden) Asfahl was born on January 22, 1942 in Plainview, MN to parents, Paul and Elna (Cummings) Ludden. Marilyn grew up in Rochester, where she's lived all her life, and attended John Marshall Highschool. She graduated in 1960 before going on to Hamline University. On January 5, 1962, she married the love of her life, Albert R. "Smokey" Asfahl in Rochester, MN. The couple had two children, Jeff and Dee Ann. For the majority of Marilyns career, she did clerical work for RCC.

Marilyn enjoyed camping, traveling, attending music events, wintering in Arizona, bean bags and water aerobics. Volunteering was very important to her as she volunteered for organizations such as volunteer connection, Channel One, and American Cancer Society and Community Clothesline. Marilyn especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Albert "Smokey"; daughter, Dee Ann (Lon) Binder; sister, Trudy Dirks; and five wonderful grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elna; her son, Jeffrey Asfahl; brother, Robert Ludden; brother-in-law, Kermit Dirks; and sister-in-law Dottie Ludden.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. A private family inurnment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery Columbarium in Rochester.
