Marilyn H. Greenwaldt, age 77, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 19, 2026 after a ten year valiantly fought battle with Alzheimer's.
Marilyn Hazel Jones was born September 23, 1948 in Monona, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Hazel (Meier) Jones. She grew up on a farm and learned to milk cows at the age of six. She graduated from MFL MarMac High School in 1966. Marilyn moved to Cresco, IA and lived with her aunt and uncle while she worked for the Ford Dealership in town. In 1968, she moved to Rochester, MN where she met Darrell Greenwaldt. They were married on May 4, 1974 at Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester and were blessed with two children, Lynette and Greg. Marilyn worked both full and part time in addition to being mom. She worked as a bookkeeper, staff accountant and controller in the Rochester area for many businesses including: Olmsted Federal Savings and Loan, Ken Haugen CPA, Smith, Shafer and Associates, Schneider Trucking and Azotic Coating. Outside of work, Marilyn enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester and St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Greenwaldt of Rochester, MN; daughter, Lynette (Rob) Sugden of Cedar Falls, IA; son, Greg Greenwaldt of Rochester, MN; three grandchildren, Caden and Ella Sugden and Elias Greenwaldt; siblings, Roland Jones and Ellen Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Laura Meyer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 23, 2026 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A light lunch will follow the service. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, MN.
