January 31, 1926 — December 9, 2022

Marjorie Myrtle Block, age 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2022. Marjorie (Marge) was born January 31,1926, to Earl and Agnes (Nelson) Jorgenson in Rochester, MN. She graduated from Rochester High School at age 16, and two years later from Rochester Junior College. She then began her 42-year career as a surgical recorder with the Mayo Clinic. On June 8, 1946 Marge was united in marriage to Jack Block, and together they raised their 5 children in Rochester. In addition to raising her family, Marge treasured the friendships that she made throughout her working career, and all the good times shared with friends and family. Marge and Jack loved traveling throughout the US and Canada in their motorhome, fishing up north, and especially attending weekend polka fests in the area. Oh, how they loved to dance! Mom's additional favorite pastimes include daily crossword puzzles, playing cards and cribbage, reading a good novel, attending her family's sporting events, and sewing amazing quilts for every member of the family. She was known for her delicious potato salad, tangy tartar sauce to top the freshly caught walleye, and an outstanding variety of tasty cakes and bars. Marge was such a special person, always warm and welcoming. She loved hosting and attending large family gatherings. She will be missed by all. Marge is survived by her husband of 76 years, Jack Block, and her children, Nancy (Gary) Pike, Bonnie (Ron) Stevenson, Ellen (Bob) Warda, David (Lynn) Block, and Galen (Shery) Block. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Colin Pike, Jenna Pike, Holly Hess, Tracey Fogarty, Sara Miles, Allison Russell, Andrew Block, Olivia Block, Alex Block, Katherine Block, and Evan Block. Great-grandchildren include Alesha, Michaela, Samuel, Aubrey, Emma, Abby, Ayva, Maya, Ethan, Aiden, Logan, Emmett R, Owen, Jackson, Christian, Emmett B, Evelyn and great-great-grandsons Brian and Mason. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Agnes Jorgenson, siblings Jeanne Stone and Dale Jorgenson, and granddaughter Erin Pike. Marge's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Cascade Creek Memory Care and Seasons Hospice for all their wonderful care.
