Michael Easley

Michael George Easley, 68, died unexpectedly August 13, 2021 at his home in Rochester, Minnesota. Michael was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on October 21, 1952, to parents Robert and Anna (Tometich) Easley. Mike graduated from Mayo High School in 1970. He went on to attend college in Colorado and Montana before returning to start his career with the Rochester Public Works Department. Soon thereafter, a young waitress caught his eye on a lunch break, the start of a lifelong romance. On August 26, 1978, Mike was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Lamb in Rochester, Minnesota. During his 42-year-career working for the City of Rochester, Mike managed many significant infrastructure projects throughout the city's expansion. He was also actively involved in coaching youth sports for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, manicuring his lawn, and doing various home projects. Mike was known for his infectious laugh, listening ear, attention to detail, and quick wit. Above all, he was a devoted father, faithful husband, and dear friend to so many in this community. He will be sorely missed. Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Easley; children, Meghan (David) Olsen of Oronoco, Robert Easley of Rochester, Joseph Easley of Rochester, Alex (Lauren) Easley of Columbus, OH, Stephanie (Josh) Schreiner of St. Louis Park; mother, Anna Easley of Rochester; mother-in-law, Cecelia Lamb of Rochester; six grandchildren, Charlie, Elise, Milo, Leo, Clara, and Lola; siblings, Patricia Kleine of Eau Claire, WI, Peggy (John) Cowan of Atlanta, GA, Margie (Chris Beckman) Brumm of Rochester, Matthew (Amanda) Easley of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Easley, and father-in-law, George Lamb. Memorial services for Michael Easley will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1114 3rd St SE, Rochester, MN. Father Jim Berning will officiate.
