Muriel Benjamin

Muriel Ann (Johnson) (Reding) Benjamin, age 90, of Rochester, MN, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Rochester East Health Services in Rochester, MN.

Muriel was born on April 8, 1933, in Mazeppa, MN to Reynold and Olive Johnson. She lived in Mazeppa for 54 years, followed by 10 years in Branson, MO, 14 years in Blue Eye, MO, and finally moved to Rochester, MN in 2011. While growing up, Muriel attended Mazeppa Public School, where she graduated from in 1951. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In August of 1951, she married Gerald Reding in Mazeppa, MN and the couple had two children, Debra and Gerald Jr. Gerald Sr. later passed away in 1983. Muriel was remarried in November of 1993 to Robert Benjamin in Missouri. Muriel spent most of her career working in retail and as a nurse aid at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

Muriel is survived by her daughter, Debra Burnick, of Rochester, MN; Stepdaughters, Robin (Kenny) Bell of California, and Diane (Mark) Reese of Ft. Mohave, Arizona; Stepsons, Guy Benjamin of Benicia, CA and David (Janet) Benjamin of Temecula, CA; two grandsons, Matthew and Timothy Burnick of Rochester, MN; 7 Step Grandchildren, Ashlee, Joshua, Courtney, and Steven Benjamin, and Brittany, Mark and Mason Reese; two sisters, Dolores Komisar of Rochester, MN and Lonna (Dean) Horning of Marshfield, MN. She is preceded in death by her son, Gerald John Reding; a stepson, Steven Benjamin; parents, Reynold and Olive Johnson; and both husbands, Gerald Reding and Robert Benjamin.

A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
