Patricia Ann Schwartzhoff

April 2, 1945 — March 11, 2021

Pat Schwartzhoff passed away on March 11, 2021 after valiantly battling Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for more than two years. Patricia Ann Gavin was born in Chicago, IL on April 2, 1945. She grew up in La Crosse, WI. She graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse. She married her husband Earl on August 14th, 1965. They lived and raised their family in St Charles, MN for 25 years. They moved to Rochester, MN in 1995 and have lived there ever since. When asked what she did for a living, Pat would always say, first and foremost I am a Mom. Later she was also the proud grandma of twelve grandchildren. She also worked in accounting, retail, insurance and banking. Her favorite job was the five years that she worked as the sole employee at the Dover, MN bank. When she retired, they closed the bank. Pat was an active member of Pax Christi Catholic church where she served as an extraordinary minister and in the rosary makers group. Pat was an avid reader and loved to crochet. She also loved to play cards, especially cribbage and 500. Pat loved Twins baseball. She was a season ticket holder for ten years. After her kids left home, she really enjoyed traveling. She and her husband Earl traveled to 48 states and more than 40 countries. They also wintered in Arizona and Florida for fifteen years. Her favorite places were Hawaii, Mesa, AZ and Vienna, Austria. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clem Gavin and Frances Gavin Apfel; two sisters, Karen and Cookie; brother, Richard; as well as her foster parents, Carol and Charlie Bluske. She is survived by her husband, Earl Schwartzhoff; children, Susan (Steve) Swantick of Livonia, MI, Tad (Jane) Schwartzhoff of La Crescent, MN, Tracy (Ross) Redepenning of Elk River, MN, Bret (Nicole) Schwartzhoff of Austin, TX, Drew (Sara) Schwartzhoff of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Gavin, Braden, Nolan, Sydney, Lindsey, Jack, Luke, Riley, Logan, Kayla, Brooke, and Brynn; siblings, Mary Jane La Fleur of Holmen, WI, Connie Kukowski of Winona, MN, and Gerry Apfel of La Crosse, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dorchester, Iowa at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, masks are required at all services with proper social distancing measures.
