Paul Richard Rank

May 1, 1958 — Jun 9, 2026

Paul Richard Rank, aged 68, of Red Wing, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester surrounded by his family on June 9, 2026.

Paul was born on May 1, 1958, and graduated from Winona High School in 1976. In his youth, Paul survived two long battles with childhood cancer. Though he worked in financial professions at various institutions throughout his life, Paul preferred to spend his time outdoors and was an avid trout fisherman, deer, duck, and pheasant hunter, and enjoyed these activities alongside his father, brothers, cousins, sons, and friends for many years. Paul valued family more than anything else and was blessed in abundance with five brothers, two sisters and many cousins. He had six children and eleven grandchildren through two marriages. Paul was a man of fairness, strong work ethic, love, humor, and wit who never wanted to be the center of attention but found great happiness in spending quality time with the people around him whom he loved.

Paul considered his loved ones to all be his family and is preceded in death by his mother Gertrude Seebold, father Donald Rank, stepfather Robert "Sam" Schrandt, and brother Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Julie, former wife Robin, children Paul Martin (Ashley), Emily (Sean), and Nathan (Jessica), stepchildren Chad (Sara), Mike (Ashley), and Jewel (Joey), grandchildren Stella, Clara, Marty, Scarlet, Lola, Hannah, Henry, and Lucy, step-grandchildren Jayce, Connor, and Kaylee, his brothers Tim, Dave, Steve, and Al, his sisters Mary and Nancy, as well as many of his cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Paul always said that the trout stream was his church and as such, wished to not have a traditional funeral. Private, individual celebrations of his life will be held by family and friends according to his wishes and anyone wishing to celebrate his life and memory are encouraged to do the same through quiet moments in the woods or stream, among family, or toasting a cold Grainbelt Premium.

Paul's family would like to offer their most sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff of the ICU at Rochester Mayo, St. Mary's Hospital, and the Red Wing Fire Department for providing dignity and compassionate care at the end of his life, ensuring that his final wishes were met.

Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Rank family.
