Peggy Youngstrom

February 19, 1941 — December 13, 2023

Peggy C. Youngstrom passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester, MN.

 

Peggy Colleen (Walker) Youngstrom was born on February 19, 1941, to parents Rex and Beth (Hobza) Walker in Mankato, MN. She attended school in Mapleton, MN, and went on to receive a secondary teaching degree from Mankato State University. She started her teaching career in Roseville, MN, where she taught junior high English. She met and married her husband, Jack Youngstrom, while teaching in Roseville. Peggy and Jack moved to White Bear Lake where Jack became a junior high principal. While there, their two sons (Joe & Matt) were born. The family would move two more times from St. Peter, MN and finally, Winona, MN.

 

Peggy was an avid reader and devoted her time to her family and different civic organizations. She was a member of the Winona PEO, volunteered as church librarian at Central Lutheran Church, and spent many years on the prom party organizer committee for Winona Public schools. In retirement, Peggy and Jack had the good fortune to travel to Europe and to winter in San Diego and Phoenix. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

 

Peggy is survived by her husband, Jack; her children, Joe (Darcy) Youngstrom and Matt (Amy) Youngstrom; and grandchildren, Ryan, Kylee, Andrew, and Nicholas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Beth; and brother, Dennis.

 

A memorial service will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Beauford Cemetery in Mapleton, MN.
