Richard Eugene Orchard

Richard Eugene Orchard, 77, of Stewartville, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Stewartville Care Center. Richard was born May 11, 1944, in Chariton, IA to Richard E. and Laura (Anderson) Orchard Sr. He was a graduate of Willmar High School and went on to obtain his Bachelor of Theology from North Central Bible College of Minneapolis and a master's degree in Communication from Mankato State. Richard served as a pastor with the Assemblies of God in Minnesota, Iowa, and Oregon. In later life he became a United Methodist pastor in Wisconsin. Richard enjoyed reading and music. He was a concert pianist for many years using his talents along with his first wife, Carol Rasmussen to do evangelistic work with the Assemblies of God. He was a gifted orator who loved theatre, musicals, and the pastoral stage. He loved to play chess and share his acerbic sense of humor and wit with his family and friends. Another passion of his was road trips, possibly acquired while traveling on the road with his family doing ministry. His love for reading resulted in a wonderful library that will be donated to a public library of the children's choice. Richard is survived by his children, Richard D. Orchard of Rochester, and Beth Ann Orchard Kudwa of Chicago, brother, Dr. Lauren W. Orchard of Cameron, Wisconsin, grandchildren Liam and Iona Orchard Kudwa, and nephew William Orchard. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Laura Orchard, one sister, Barbara Orchard, and his wife Diane Spiess Orchard.
