Richard Prazak

Richard A. Prazak, 67, of Hanlontown, IA, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus. Richard was born December 1, 1953 in Mason City, IA to Elmer and Margaret (McNamara) Prazak. He was a graduate of Nora Springs Rock Fall High School, where he played football, baseball and wrestled. Richard went on to work as a Pressroom Supervisor, he worked on a couple different pig farms and spent the last 20 years as a welder. On May 18, 1991, in Rochester, Richard married Mary Jo Peters. He enjoyed chopping wood, hunting, doing anything outdoors, playing golf and pitching horseshoes. Richard also enjoyed playing 500 and cribbage, bowling and watching sports. He was a sci-fi fanatic and loved watching Star-Trek. He was strong willed and had a quick wit. Richard was a faithful Christian. He loved spending time with family, enjoying a good cold beer and laughing with friends. Richard is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Jo; children, Mindy (Jeff) Adams, Jerry (Krista) Prazak, Danny (Erin) Prazak, Ryan (Beth) Goodman, Ali Hare and Sara (Matt) Parkman; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Wayne (Tammy) Prazak; uncle, Kenny Prazak and his beloved dog, Winnie. Richard was preceded in death by his grandson and by his parents. Richard was able to give the generous gift of being an organ donor. A time to celebrate Richard's life will be held at a later date.
