Ricky Harold Skaar

Ricky Harold Skaar, 72, of Rochester, MN passed away on April 14, 2026, at Mayo Clinic St. Marys Hospital.

Ricky was born on December 15, 1953 in Rochester, MN to parents Merlin and Mavis (Webster) Skaar. He was one of six children. He spent the majority of his school years in Spring Valley, MN before transferring to John Marshall High School his senior year. On September 10, 1993, Ricky married Michelle Weber in Rochester, MN. He worked for the Rochester Parks and Recreation Department for 30 years, where he was proud of the work he did and the friends he made along the way.

Family meant everything to Ricky, and he loved spending time with them any chance he got. He loved our yearly extended-family vacation to Train Bell Resort in Merrifield, and the friends that he made there. He loved the outdoors, having a perpetual tan deep into winter, golfing, hunting, fishing, and time spent with friends in Wabasha. He enjoyed time with his work buddies (playing a hand or two of poker) and especially loved making everyone laugh. Ricky was a skilled carpenter, crafting a beautiful home and special pieces for loved ones. In recent years, he cherished wintering in Palm Desert, CA relaxing, golfing, and spending quality time with family. Ricky's big heart, laughter, and the joy he brought others will be greatly missed.

Ricky is survived by his wife of 32 years, Michelle; daughters, Antonia Margotta and Katelyn Skaar (Noah Reid); siblings, Michele Williams, Kim (Robyn) Skaar and Tammy (Steve) Hale; Father-in-Law, Jim Weber; many loved nieces, nephews, and extended family; and special family by heart, Halee (Tony) Wayne and their children Graham and Olivia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Mavis; Mother-in-Law, Helen Weber; sister, Candy Thorne; and brother, Scott Skaar.

The family would like to thank the nursing and care staff of Mary Brigh 6G ICU for their excellent care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service. A celebration of life to immediately follow at Rochester Eagles Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Rochester Parks Foundation or the family.
