Robert (Rob) Alan Kostinec, a Senior Engineer and resident of Minnesota, died unexpectedly from a heart attack on August 27, 2023, at the age of 60 in Duluth, MN.
Rob is survived by his mother, Sharon Pederson, his three children Izabelle, Luke and Jake, his brothers Terry, Mark and Joe Kostinec, and stepsisters, Vicki Dunkle, Terri Summey, and Tammy Bowes.
Rob was born in Omaha on July 17th, 1963.
He graduated from Wayne State College in 1986 with a degree in Biology and continued his education at the University of South Dakota, obtaining a master's degree in Zoology.
For 24 years he worked as a Senior Engineer at Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for the state of Minnesota. He was never intimidated by how large the project or whose toes might get stepped on, as he stood to keep organizations accountable for the environment.
Rob was a kind, thoughtful, and genuine man. He had a dry and wicked sense of humor. He was thorough, and you could always trust his research and perspective.
He loved being in nature, whether he was camping, riding his E-bike, paddling a river, snow skiing, fishing and hunting. Nature was one of the places where he experienced his greatest joy. He loved to travel, experience new things and discover new places.
He was a man of faith, a devoted father, and was dedicated to keeping the environment safe and clean for future generations.
He was committed to being healthy with his mind, body, and spirit.
May he be at peace, knowing he will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Christ Community Church (4400 55th St NW, Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
