Roland "Rolly" Lowell Erdman, age 79, of Osseo, Wisconsin, and longtime resident of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Rolly was born on August 13, 1946, in Preston, Minnesota, to Ray and Marjorie Erdman. He grew up in Wykoff and attended Wykoff Public Schools, where he was involved in several sports. His most prominent passion was football, and he proudly liked to say he was the best center Wykoff ever had. After graduating from high school, Rolly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served four years aboard the USS Neshanic as an electrician. Following his honorable military service, he returned home and began his working career. Rolly was a long-time employee of Alvin E. Benike for nearly 30 years. He also took a stab at sales, including selling Kirby vacuums. In 1968, Rolly met wife, Cynthia Gunderson, and together they made their home in Rochester, Minnesota, where they raised their three children. Rolly enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and NASCAR. He had a love for snowmobiles and radio-controlled airplanes. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family and especially enjoyed visits from his grandchildren.
Rolly is survived by his 3 children: Ryan (Heather) Erdman of Austin, Minnesota, Erika (Jeff) Ambourn of Belvidere, Illinois and Ross (Kristy) Erdman of Moorhead, Minnesota. 8 Grandchildren: Jordyn (Trent) Brown, Harley and Braden Erdman, Avery and Evan Ambourn, Rett, Cindy, and Radly Erdman: brothers and sisters: Rick (Marilyn) Erdman of Wykoff, Minnesota; Bonnie (Neil) Grummons of Plainview, Minnesota; Barb (David) Gunderson of Whitehouse, Tennessee; Randy (Stephanie) Erdman of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Robert Erdman of Tampa, Florida; and Beverly (John) Jimenz of Spring Valley, Minnesota.
